The Government of Malta follows the Schengen visa regulations for foreign nationals wishing to enter the country. Citizens of certain countries, such as the USA, UK, and many European countries, are visa-exempt for short stays (up to 90 days within a 180-day period).

Nationals of countries that require a visa to enter the Schengen Area must apply for a Schengen short-stay visa (Type C) prior to travel.

• Valid passport (valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended date of departure from the Schengen Area)
• Recent passport-size photograph
• Visa application fee
• Proof of purpose of stay
• Proof of accommodation
• Proof of sufficient financial means
• Travel medical insurance (minimum coverage of EUR 30,000, valid across the Schengen Area)
